The need for the delegation of power

Matthew 9:35-38 NKJV

Then Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people. But when He saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion for them, because they were weary and scattered, like sheep having no shepherd. Then He said to His disciples, “The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.”

If you had a bible like mine, you would probably have seen the title that says as such. :)

We learnt in cell group that each of us are chosen and precious in God’s eyes, and that we can come taste and see that the Lord is good.

But Jesus did not just call us out to work and to work and to work. To drive us like slaves… No! When we desire to have a heart like Jesus, we begin to see the very reason… In verse 35-38 it says that Jesus was moved with compassion for lost souls… And He alone delegates us with this call, together with POWER.

To do the work of God is such privilege and blessing.

NFG: Why are sacrifices necessary?

Gen 15:9, 12-13, 17-21 (MSG)

As unneeded as it sounds, Abram cut up the animals. It’s before God had the tabernacle with Israel to communicate with the high priest. So these animals were not to cleanse Abram of his sins or part of the Mosaic laws. These sacrifices were a test of obedience.

Think of it in today’s convention - would you, in your own walk with God, barehandedly cut these animals up? I think it was a bit messy. Abram had no Mosaic covenant to follow; he had no need to sprinkle blood on the bronze altar or the altar of incense. That’s why it might sound like the sacrifices were unnecessary - but it was a sacrifice of obedience. It was an offering on Abram’s part.

When God said “bring Me”, how did Abram know to kill the animals? Perhaps he closely knew that God exists in the spiritual, and there’s no way to really bring it to God except to kill them.

v17-21 Abram was in that place until the sun went down. He had to chase away the vultures that came. Abram was mixing his prayer with his giving. That’s when God made a covenant with him. That’s when the Firepot and Flaming Torch appeared - God’s Presence moved. That’s when Abram waited on the Lord. That’s when intimacy was developed.

Today was a good day with some family bonding! God I pray that every year it gets better. Usually my brother and I don’t usually talk, cos to be frank, he’s quite disrespectful towards the people he chooses to be disrespectful to. Rude, at that. Usually towards my mum and me. But this year it was…

so true!!!
rainstarsky:

An American Indian grandfather was talking to his grandson about how he felt. He said: “I feel as if I have two wolves fighting in my heart. One wolf is vengeful, angry and temperamental. The other wolf is loving and compassionate.”The grandson asked him, “Which wolf will win the fight in your heart?”The grandfather answered, “The one I feed.”

A lil reminder…whether or not we keep hold over our emotions is a CHOICE. Commitment over emotion :)

There is value in HOLDING ON.

I’ve been wanting to pen this down for the longest time and finally got to it. There is value in holding on and sticking it out. God sees the beauty of people who relentlessly hold on to His faith and keep coming back to him DESPITE what happens in our life;…
